Frank, it was so cool to hang out with you at the ASQ World Conference in Orlando this week (pretty close to your own backyard)!
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) highlighted the first Metrology Day from way back in 1875 - the Meter Convention when 17 countries aligned on a definition for the unit of length for both meters and kilograms.
The Meter Convention is also the birthday of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) in France, where a prototype kilogram and meter bar are stored.
Measurement science was undergirding several conversations among technical and certification leaders at WCQI around calibration and supply chain management.
As a relic of standards and our history of global cooperation, the international prototype of the kilogram is my favorite tool to shoutout here!!
