IKIGAI is a Japanese concept often described as the intersection between what you love, what the world needs, what you are good at, and what you can be paid for. For many professionals, it represents purpose, fulfillment, and the reason behind the work they do every day.

My IKIGAI as a Food Safety Auditor

    What the world needs:
Every year, nearly 600 million people become ill due to contaminated food, and more than 420,000 lose their lives because of foodborne diseases. Food safety is not just about compliance - it is about protecting lives, strengthening trust, and building a more responsible food chain for future generations.

    What I love:
I genuinely enjoy helping organizations improve their processes, strengthen their food safety culture, and raise the level of confidence they provide to consumers, employees, and stakeholders. Seeing companies evolve and mature through continuous improvement is one of the most rewarding parts of this profession.

What I can be paid for:
Thankfully, throughout the years, I have had the opportunity to work with organizations that value professionalism, integrity, and technical competence. The trust placed in my work has allowed me to continue contributing to the food industry through auditing, training, and consulting activities.

    What I do well:
I always try to perform my work with professionalism, objectivity, and commitment. Auditing is not only about identifying gaps - it is about creating value, encouraging improvement, and helping organizations achieve sustainable compliance. I am grateful for the positive feedback, long-term relationships, and confidence that many companies and professionals have placed in me throughout this journey.

Being part of the global food safety community means contributing to something greater than a certification. It means helping organizations build systems that protect consumers, strengthen operational excellence, and reinforce confidence across the entire supply chain. That responsibility is something I deeply respect and value.

What about you? What is your IKIGAI in the profession or industry you serve?
