This month, we're excited to spotlight one of our community members whose career has been built around quality, continuous improvement, and helping others grow- @Billie King
As a Corporate Supplier Quality Engineer and Lead ISO 9001 Auditor, Billie brings more than 30 years of experience spanning Automotive, Medical Devices, Refrigeration, Ammunition, and Industrial Manufacturing. Throughout that journey, he has worn many hats including Design Engineer, Process Engineer, Quality Engineer, Lean Black Belt, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, trainer, mentor, and educator.
One theme has remained constant throughout his career: a passion for teaching and developing others. In addition to building training programs and mentoring young professionals, he has tutored more than 200 college students in mathematics and physics, helping shape the next generation of problem-solvers.
When asked what he values most about the Exemplar Global Community, his answer focused on something many of us can relate to:
"What I appreciate most about the Exemplar Global Community is that it reminds me I do not have to figure everything out on my own."
He sees the Community as a place where professionals from different industries, backgrounds, and experience levels come together with a shared commitment to quality, auditing, continual improvement, and professional excellence.
Advice for Fellow Members
His advice is simple:
"Read the discussions, participate in the conversations, and engage with the people in this community."
Billie shared that he recently followed advice from another member that led him to earn a cybersecurity digital badge. He explains that while the badge itself was rewarding, the real value came from pushing himself outside his comfort zone and rediscovering skills he hadn't challenged in years. That experience is now helping prepare him for his next goal: pursuing ISO/IEC 42001 AI Governance certification.
Fun Fact
Outside of work, he considers himself an artist.
Earlier in life, that meant solving mathematics and physics problems. Today, his creative outlet is photography and filmmaking. What fascinates him most is how similar the disciplines really are. Both require attention to detail, pattern recognition, technical mastery, and a commitment to continual learning. The tools may be different, but the mindset remains the same.
Thank you, Billie, for sharing your story and for being an active member of the Exemplar Global Community!
