Every career path looks a little different, and that's what makes this community so valuable. I'd love to hear from you:

    • What was the first certification you ever earned  and what did it teach you?

    • Or, what's one thing you wish someone had told you earlier in your career?

Drop your story in the comments, big or small, your experience might be exactly what someone else here needs to hear.

A couple things I wish someone had told me earlier....

    • Be bold
    • Never stop learning
    • Never ever be too afraid to ask a question or ask for help
    • Always make time for family
    • Don't stop searching for a job you love
    • Happiness is a choice, so choose it!!

Love this list, Gina! Such great reminders, especially the "never be too afraid to ask a question", that's exactly the kind of openness we want to encourage here in the Community too!!

    • What was the first certification you ever earned  and what did it teach you?iNARTE Product Safety Engineer, one of the rare, international professional certifications with regards to electrical and electronics products' safety compliance

    • Or, what's one thing you wish someone had told you earlier in your career? For years I was under the impression that iNARTE certification is only for ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC). Until the day one of my mentors, who happened to be an iNARTE Product Safety Engineer in Japan, guided me to pursue my own professional certification that attesting my skills and experience in this niche specialization. Until today I am happy to be the first in the list of certified iNARTE Product Safety Engineer in Southeast Asia region.

Hi Richard, thanks for sharing! Very cool that a mentor guided you there, and even cooler that you were the first in Southeast Asia to earn it. That's quite an achievement. Has it had a big impact on your career since then?

Hello Jamie, yes it has a big, positive impact on my career on both tangible and intangible aspects. Apart from having better career prospects, I am also getting a higher recognition from my industry peers. Besides that my iNARTE certification has further motivated me to pursue other professional learning / certification, it is an unstoppable continual self-improvement journey~
