Hi,

I'm looking for advice on a good place to start my pathway to Lead Auditor.  I have been looking at the various training programs and not sure where to start.  I would like career options to be:

• Internal auditor for an organisation that has an IMS or at least ISO45001
• Auditor employed by a Quality Assurance Company
• Independent contractor providing 3rd party audits/consultancy to companies seeking accreditation
• OHS/WHS Advisor for any organisation  

My experience is operations management.  I have industry knowledge of fire system maintenance, registered training organisations and building compliance.  I have not held a dedicated OHS role such as WHS Advisor, although heavily experienced in OHSMS tools.  The past 2 years I have been leading a team performing audits relating to fire safety and building compliance with reference to Australian Standards and NCC.  I am currently doing CERT IV in Work Health &  Safety.  I am hoping to complete this next month.  SAI Global is offering Internal Auditor Training ISO 19011:2018.  I am wondering if that is a good place to start.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations on reaching the last stages of your CERT VI in Work Health & Safety!  It is always exciting to hear when experienced individuals such as yourself are making plans to enter the pathway to Lead Auditor.  You have already made a great start.  Perhaps a useful next step would be to consider the options for Personnel Certification and review the qualification requirements. this may inspire your next steps.
