Welcome Selin. That combination is rarer than it sounds, because most people come to auditing from quality and pick up the technical depth slowly, while you already have the engineering side and are adding the audit discipline on top of it. Thermal and CFD work leaves you with a habit that serves auditors very well, which is refusing to accept a result until you know what assumptions it rests on. That is most of what separates a useful finding from a tidy one.

If AS9100 is where you want to head, your sector experience will matter more to a certification body than another certificate will, so it is worth leading with the engineering work you have actually done when you approach them. And I would read 19011 alongside your first few audits rather than saving it until afterwards, because it makes far more sense once you have had to defend a sample and a grading decision in a real closing meeting.
