    Good Day.

My name is Magdalene. I'm excited to have my new certification in hand, but I'm at the beginning stages of planning my move from Assistant Financial Controller into ISO auditing. I'm looking for advice on how to best leverage my background to land an Associate or Lead Auditor role.

In brief, I am an accounting and audit professional with over 10 years of experience in financial reporting, external audit, internal controls, and regulatory compliance across Malaysia and Singapore. I have experience in control testing, SOP implementation, statutory reporting, taxation, and audit coordination.

    Thank you.

    Hi Magdalene,

Welcome, and congratulations on your certification! You actually have a really strong foundation for auditing already, especially with your background in controls, compliance, SOPs, and audit coordination. A lot of those skills transfer directly into management systems auditing, particularly around process thinking, evidence gathering, risk, and communication.

I'd encourage you to stay active in the community, there are quite a few members here who have transitioned from adjacent fields into auditing and can share what helped them break in.

Excited to see where the journey takes you!

I was wondering how a person who is a certified ISO auditor connects with organizations that need to be registered.   I don't see a bulletin board where opportunities are posted.  Any thoughts?

    Hi Tom,

I may not understand your question but if an organization is looking to get certified to an ISO Standard, they need to go to an accredited certification body.  Therefore, you need to find a certification body, accredited in the country you want to perform your audits.  To find that certification body you can typically find that the national accreditation body for that country and on their website, they would have a listing of their accredited certification bodies with details on their location and contacts as well as the standards that they certify.

I would be happy to answer any other questions.  I served on the ANSI National Accreditation Body - Accreditation Council for 20 years and was a Lead Auditor for DQS Certification Body for 9 years.
