    · Did you always know you wanted to become an engineer?

    · Have you always been interested or strong in math and STEM subjects?

    · Was there a mentor, professor, or role model who influenced your career path?

    · What advice would you give to recent graduates entering the workforce?

    · Did you always know you wanted to become an engineer?

My mother inspired me to be an engineer after she discovered my strong interest in building stuffs with Lego. The only surprised is I chose electrical engineering instead of civil engineering.

    · Have you always been interested or strong in math and STEM subjects?

Thanks to my physics tuition teacher that explained well about F=ma, what is "F" what is "m" what is "a". It has since sparked my strong interest in this subject

    · Was there a mentor, professor, or role model who influenced your career path?

Initially I thought iNARTE only has EMC certification, until one day a senior staff member told me that his iNARTE certification is product safety. This has inspired me to pursue  my own iNARTE product safety certification.

    · What advice would you give to recent graduates entering the workforce?

Be curious, be professional, be strong enough to be gentle.

Wonderful to hear from you Richard.  I'm sure Legos was the foundation for many civil engineers.  I think in math I got as far as E=Mc2, but am in awe of the wiring of the brain to understand these equations.  I agree, keep asking questions and always be curious.

Hi Levent, I agree with you.  Lifelong learning is so important.  I too find ways to improve daily and enjoy learning something new every day.

There is no age/ gender/ experience/qualification requirements for learning and development in one's life. That is the real education to keep enhancing our knowledge horizon.

I am now 71. Did my iNARTE ESD Control Engineer certification in February 2023 while running at 68.

Thanks to all the support from Gina of iNARTE - Exemplarglobal

The inspiration behind my achievement were my  two great mentors who passed away recently.

Thanks so much for your kind words Vijay.  You are an excellent example of the Lifelong Learning journey.  Very sorry to hear about the loss of your mentors.  I know you are serving as mentor to others now.

I was drawn to this field by a mix of curiosity and practicality. I didn't always know I wanted to be an engineer, but I was consistently interested in how systems work and how to improve them. Math was a strength early on, which made the path clearer over time. A few professors and senior professionals played an important role by showing how theory translates into real-world impact and discipline. For recent graduates, my advice is simple: master the fundamentals, stay humble, learn from experienced people, and focus on doing solid, honest work before chasing titles or quick success.

Thank you, Francisco. This really shows the importance of finding and listening to mentors.  Titles and quick success come to the few, the path is often more interesting and rewarding for many.
