    If someone asked to shadow one of your audits, what would you expect from them?

    We've had a few people in the community looking for observer opportunities, so I'd love to hear from those already auditing.

    If someone were to shadow you, what would you expect from them to make it a valuable experience for both sides?

    I would expect curiosity, professionalism, respect for the process, and preparation (ie understanding of the business/client being audited). Having an open mind, observing closely, and providing constructive feedback on the lead auditor's body language and style (ie the 'soft' skills) would be helpful.  Most importantly, an observer is also a part of the team, as such, they too may wish to look for opportunities, ideas and improvements.  A good audit should do more than check compliance, it should help people, systems and businesses get better/innovate. 

    We would be very open to being shadowed, and I am happy to start a conversation with anyone willing to collaborate.

    We would expect curiosity, professionalism, respect for the process, and strong preparation (ie understanding of the auditee/client). Would also expect the observer to bring an open mind, observe closely, and offer constructive feedback on the Lead Auditor's body language and soft skills. Most importantly, the observer is very much a part of the team, so looking for opportunities, ideas and improvements would be appropriate, because a good audit should do more than check compliance, it should help people, systems and businesses get better/innovate.

    Craig, this is such a great breakdown. I really like the callout on the soft skills piece, I feel like that's something that may not get talked about enough but makes a huge difference in how an audit actually lands.

    Also appreciate you being open to shadowing opportunities, that's exactly the kind of collaboration we hope to see more of here!
