Mohan, the honest path has three parts that build on each other. First get solid on the standard itself and how a management system actually works in practice, because you cannot audit what you do not understand. Then complete a certified lead auditor course, the kind Exemplar Global recognises, where you learn the audit process, planning, gathering evidence, writing findings and leading an audit team. The course and exam give you the qualification, but the real jump is logging actual audit days, usually starting as a team member under an experienced lead before you take the lead chair yourself.
The part people underestimate is the practice. Reading the standard makes you knowledgeable, but confidence comes from sitting in real audits and seeing how evidence is questioned and how findings are defended.
