Today, on World Food Safety Day, I reflect on the privilege and responsibility that comes with my work as a food safety auditor.
Over the years, I have realized that this profession lies at the intersection of my IKIGAI-the place where purpose, vocation, passion, and profession come together.
What the world needs:
Every year, approximately 600 million people become ill from contaminated food, and more than 420,000 lose their lives as a result. Behind every statistic are individuals, families, and communities that depend on effective food safety systems.
What I love:
Supporting organizations in their continuous improvement journey, strengthening their management systems, and helping ensure that safe food reaches millions of consumers.
What I can be paid for:
By the grace of God, I have had the opportunity to serve companies that have placed their trust in my experience to evaluate, strengthen, and improve their food safety systems.
What I do well:
I strive to conduct every audit with professionalism, objectivity, and integrity, always seeking to add value beyond compliance. I am deeply grateful for the trust and positive feedback that many organizations have shared with me throughout this journey.
Every audit, every finding, and every improvement action serve a purpose that goes far beyond achieving certification. They help protect public health, strengthen consumer confidence, and contribute to safer food reaching every table.
Food safety is not just my profession; it is a way of serving others. It is the opportunity to use my knowledge and experience to make a positive impact on society.
When food safety is done right, it often goes unnoticed. And that is precisely what success looks like.
Happy World Food Safety Day!
