Central America is steadily emerging as a key player in the agri-food sector. Every company that chooses to implement and maintain an FSSC 22000-certified system demonstrates a strong commitment to quality, food safety, and sustainability. It is inspiring to see how the region is opening up to the world through international standards that uphold not only products but also values: trust, responsibility, and progress.

Thank you for sharing this perspective, you raise interesting points.  You've highlighted something many of us recognize: that food safety culture is shaped by far more than the audit itself. And it becomes strongest when every part of the ecosystem is aligned, regulators, manufacturers, auditors, certification bodies and others all influencing how food safety is understood and lived day to day.

I believe a strong culture is built from the ground up, beginning with employee mindsets and behaviors.

Training should prioritize the "why" over the "what"not just teaching which procedures to follow, but explaining why each step is critical. It should also encourage the adoption of affordable digital tools for record-keeping, monitoring, and traceability, as well as the integration of lean principles into the organization's food safety culture.
