For our Food & Safety colleagues: The FDA has established new regulatory program standards for produce. The Produce Regulatory Program Standards (PRPS) create a consistent framework for government produce regulators, helping to strengthen an integrated food safety system through collaboration and shared resources among federal, state, local, and tribal agencies to protect public health.

Strong move by FDA. The Produce Regulatory Program Standards (PRPS) set a more consistent and structured framework for produce oversight across federal, state, local, and tribal agencies.

Greater alignment means clearer expectations, more consistent inspections, and stronger preventive controls throughout the fresh produce supply chain.

For industry, the signal is clear: tighten risk-based systems, strengthen documentation, and ensure field and packing operations are audit-ready. This is about proactive compliance, not reactive correction.
