  • 1.  Any advice for a SQF Practitioner recognition

    Posted 04-07-2026 11:30 AM

'm excited to join this community as I continue my journey toward becoming a certified SQF Practitioner and, ultimately, a strong contributor within the auditing profession. Food safety, quality systems, and continuous improvement have been the core of my career, and I'm looking forward to connecting with others who share the same passion for this work.

    Who I am

My name is Ginnette C. Barroeta, and I currently serve as the QA & Compliance Manager for Holypack LLC, where I architect and maintain our entire Quality Management System. My background spans beverages, freeze‑dried foods, grains and cereals, and pharmaceutical OTC manufacturing - all of which shaped my approach to risk management, regulatory compliance, and system design.

    Where I'm located

I'm based in Dallas, Texas, supporting operations across multiple facilities and working closely with production, vendors, and regulatory partners.

    Certifications & areas of focus

I'm deeply invested in advancing my credentials and strengthening my auditing expertise. My current certifications and competencies include:

    • HACCP
    • PCQI for Human and Animal Food
    • ASQ Certified Food Safety & Quality Auditor
    • Internal Auditor training
    • Extensive experience with SQF, IFS, FSVP, and Organic (NOP/SOE) compliance
    • Developer of three HACCP plans and multiple audit‑ready programs

I'm now pursuing SQF Practitioner recognition and continuing to build toward higher‑level GFSI auditing competencies, for that reason I just want your advice

    Thank you

    Ginnette Barroeta

    Hi Ginnette,

To be a SQF Practitioner you only need to have sat a 2 day HACCP course with written assessment.  Yep that is it. But I am sure SQF has various training courses you can sit and get a certificate. https://www.sqfi.com/training-events/our-training

To get a GFSI recognized auditor qualification is a totally different training course. You will need to sit a 5 day Lead Auditor course with assessment. I run the BRCGS version of that course but SQF will run a similar 5 day course. Make sure you look at the assessment requirements of that course so that it does not involved many months of trying to find someone to take you on their audits after the training is finished.

    Thanks

    Hi Francisco,

Thank you so much for providing a summary of ISO 14001:2026.  This will be very helpful for the auditors that will be conducting audits of this standard.  I worked for Certification Body DQS for nine years when the 2015 revisions came out and was glad, we had a manager who could provide our 55 ISO 14001/9001 Auditors with the information on the changes in the Standard as well as ISO 9001.  Smaller CBs might not have that resource and could really use your information.
